Wat Arun, also known as Wat Chaeng by the locals and Temple of the Dawn is a historic temple that dates back to the Ayuttaya Period.

Inside the temple
The central prang is one of the most unique attractions of the temple as the pagoda is encrusted with glazed porcelain tiles and sea shells. Other unique features of the temple include the Ordination Hall, Giant statues, the Bell Tower and a dozen statues of Buddha.
Belief
Worshipping and praying at prang is known to be bring prosperity and eternal happiness to the individual. It is also believed that only those who learn and practise the Dhamma will be able to attain true success.
Visiting times and attire
Wat Arun is open every day for visitors from 8 am till 5:30 pm. It is advised that if you’re staying at one of the serviced apartments in Bangkok in the area such as Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok, visitors should visit either in the morning or evening hours of the day.
Getting there
The ideal way to get to the temple is through the river. Wat Arun is located on the West bank of Chao Phraya River; adjacent to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Hop on a boat that will take you to this temple.
