Shop by Boat at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Old School Shopping!
Make sure you check out Thailand’s most famous floating market, Damnoen Saduak on your next holiday here! Here’s what you need to know before you go!
Central Stays in the City
Whether you’re considering a hotel or a serviced apartment in Bangkok, it’s always best to pick a central stay! If you fancy views of the river, why not consider Chatrium Residence Riverside Bangkok or a hotel which is water-adjacent to make sure you have the best waterfront views of the city!
What is Damnoen Saduak?
This market is basically like any other market in which you can pick up local delicacies, wares, fruits and vegetables from local, trading families. However, what’s different is that all items are sold out of traditional longtail boats, which are afloat in the water.
Where is it?
Interestingly, Damnoen Saduak, which is also known as Bangkok Floating Market, is not actually in Bangkok. It’s about 100 KM west of the city and can take between an hour or two to reach by road! You can also get there by bus or book a guided tour so that your transport is pre-planned and prebooked.
Best Time to Visit
An insider tip when visiting is to get there as early as possible to beat the mid-day heat and humidity! The market is open by 7 AM and the peak hours of trading are actually until about 10 AM. So, make sure you get there before all the goods are sold out!
