Michelin stars are to shine over Bangkok
The worst kept secret of the restaurant world, finally out.
It was confirmed that the Michelin guide will be launched in Bangkok before the end of the year 2017. Most citizens believe this was a long time coming as the Thai capital is known for its local fine dining experience.
What is the Michelin guide?
This is the oldest European reference guide for hotels and restaurants. This is a set of guide booklets published by the French company, Michelin.

There is a Michelin red guide, published every year with the relevant guidelines, which awards Michelin stars based on a set criterion. The acquisition of a Michelin star has a great impact on a restaurant, so does the loss of one.

Since the big news was announced local food bloggers and dining and restaurant blogs such as The Dine and Wine, have been speculating on the predictions for the restaurants that may be awarded the stars. ‘Gaggan‘, ‘Bo.Lan‘, ‘Mezzaluna‘, ‘Le Normandie‘ and ‘Le Du‘ are some of the predictions suggested by most.
Will it help tourism?
Bangkok is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world, mostly known for its vibrant cuisine and the exotic, local places to eat. Thus establishing a renowned fine dining standard will undoubtedly improve the volume of tourist inflow to the country.
